Christmas in Quincy: Why This Weekend Means So Much to Me (and Should to You Too)

Christmas in Quincy: Why This Weekend Means So Much to Me (and Should to You Too)

As someone who’s grown up in Quincy my whole life, I can say without hesitation—this is my favorite weekend of the year.

At FC Realty, we don’t just work here—we live here, raise our families here, and build lives here. That’s what real estate is really about. And for me, the start of the holiday season in Quincy Center is packed with the kind of moments that make a place feel like home.

Some of my most treasured memories with my kids are tied to this weekend—laughing under the lights, warming our hands with hot cocoa, watching Santa fly in (literally!) by helicopter, and dancing to holiday music downtown. Quincy doesn’t just put on a few events—we transform into a winter wonderland that brings out the best in our community.

Here’s everything happening this weekend—and what’s still to come—so you and your family can enjoy the magic too.

Friday, November 28 — Hancock-Adams Common Tree Lighting

3 PM – Classic Children’s Movies on the Jumbotron
5–7 PM – Tree Lighting, Music & Activities

There's nothing quite like seeing the Hancock-Adams Common lit up for the season. This Friday, kick off the festivities with movies the whole family will love, festive music, and kid-friendly holiday activities. The tree lighting at 5 PM brings the magic front and center—and whether it's your first time or your fifteenth, it never gets old.

Saturday, November 29 — Santa’s Arrival by Helicopter

12 PM at Pageant Field

Yes, Quincy really knows how to do Christmas—Santa arrives by helicopter! Get there early, meet holiday characters, and soak in the excitement as kids' faces light up the moment that chopper appears in the sky. This event is always a hit with the little ones—and honestly, it's pretty awesome for adults too.

Sunday, November 30 — 72nd Annual Christmas Parade

12–3:30 PM
Starts at Hancock St & Walter J. Hannon Pkwy, Ends at North Quincy High

One of the longest-running holiday parades in the area, this is the 72nd year Quincy residents will line the streets for this spectacular celebration. Expect floats, marching bands, local organizations, and of course, Santa himself. It’s the kind of small-town tradition that feels big—and brings us all together.

All Weekend — Santa’s Mailbox at Hancock-Adams Common

Got a Christmas wish? Drop your letter to Santa at Santa’s Mailbox, located right in Hancock-Adams Common. It’s available during this weekend’s events and throughout the season, making it a fun and magical way for kids to connect with the North Pole.

Coming Soon — Ice Skating Rink Opens Tuesday, December 2

📍 Dennis Ryan Pkwy (Across from Quincy District Courthouse)

Looking for a festive activity to keep the holiday vibes going? The outdoor ice skating rink opens soon! Whether you're a seasoned skater or just there for fun, it's a great way to enjoy winter in Quincy. Check out QuincyRec.com for hours and details.

Coming Soon — Generals Bridge & Park Tree Lighting

This tree lighting is extra special—honoring Quincy’s active military families in a meaningful celebration of community and service. If you're looking to add some heart to your holidays, this is a beautiful way to reflect and give thanks.
